On Feb.27, 2015, The Football Reform Plan was approved at the meeting of Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Continuing Reform; On April, 2015, a football reform steering group led by Vice Premier Liu Yandong was established for further boosting football development. According to the reform plan, a three-step development strategy was established where the short-term, mid-term and long-term goals were specified for concrete implementation. It is an unprecedented strategy and reflected the crucial role football plays comparing to other sports.
